Packing is just one of those things, you do it the last minute and then end up with a pile of squashed up clothes in your bag. You then get to the airport and realise you’re bag won’t fit, have to take it all out again and squash it up, further destroying your once nice, preen garments. So, how best pack quickly, smartly and neatly?

First – Choose the clothing you’re going to take with you on your trip. Jackets and coats should form the outside of the suitcase, followed by jumpers, long sleeve shirts, pants, knits, underwear and socks.

Next place all the items on a bed or a clean floor and button them all up as this will prevent them getting all bundled up as you pack them. Next see what items will be at the centre of the bundles, this will be the socks, trunks and shorts.

The next step is to begin wrapping. Lie the jacket on the floor face down. Make sure this is the case as it prevents problems with the lapels and stops them getting bent and destroyed by the other clothes you will be suing. Place the sleeves of the jacket flat on the ground, then the long sleeve shirts inside and smooth. Try and ensure the collar is stacked neatly, next use a short sleeve shirt and alternate.

Add your trousers next, ensuring they are folded in half. Place jumpers between to add stability if needed. Soon you will get to the inner items. These are the underwear and socks. Place these items in the centre and make sure it looks like a closing petal. Then smooth jacket sleeves and fold the top over. The last thing to drape over should be the sleeves.

Making sure your bag is open first, scoop up the bundle and place it in the bag. Finally, you should include your shoes, trainers and shaving kit in the bag at the side of the pile of clothing. Now close up the case and you’re ready to go.

Dressing to trend can be a little bit of a futile effort and is one of the reasons that fashion is considered a bit of a waste of time by many. By dressing in an anti fashion manner in a careful and well thought out manner you will end up with some clothing that bypasses the fickle and runs into the classics. So, what are the anti fashion pieces that never go out of style?

Crew Neck Jumpers

These are possibly the most neutral piece of clothing out there and are a warm, comfortable and versatile piece of clothing that go with a wide range of other clothing and are extremely versatile. Looking for a classic one of these is a smart buy.

White Oxford Shirt

We’ve all heard of it and many of us have one, so why not have two – they go with absolutely everything. Just make sure it fits well and its doesn’t hand, or pull at the buttons. Always clean and iron it and care for it and you have a gem.

Navy Trousers

This is one of the most versatile colours of all and can be worn with anything from the aforementioned sweatshirt, or shirt, to a t shirt. A nice straight, or slim pair that fit your body style is best. Make sure they fit the bottom of your shoe. Look for a matte finish and prepare to spend to save.

Brown Shoes

The classic brown lace up shoe is a must for all occasions and goes with a vast range of clothing. Well polished Oxfords do the job brilliantly – polish them because they look great and also to prevent the leather cracking.

Accessory

A nice simple accessory is also a necessity. Make it a leather strapped, clean faced watch, or even a nice scarf. It works well and is simple and livens up the whole look a bit, but goes with almost everything.

The chino has been very popular on men’s trousers for the last few seasons. However, the humble jean is making its way back into the ring for the coming months. So, what are the trends that are coming out of the blue for jean season?

As the trend for check continues, consider a dark denim jacket to cover it. It looks fantastic buttoned up with the lapels sticking out – just add some chinos and boots

Lighter coloured fur lined denim works wonderfully with darker coloured jeans and is the perfect piece for those spring days – not to warm, not to cool and it’s breathable. So, if you’re sick of chinos, this is a great one to team up with jeans.

Clean lines with some tailored touches is what you should be looking for this season. Think simplicity and you have it.

Denim shirts also have their place and make a refreshing change from check. They’re just as hard wearing and look just as good and offer a breath of fresh air.

Of course a good pair of jeans is essential and paying that little bit more ensures they age beautifully and are essentially and investment. Go for dark blues and whole colours, though if you do opt for faded, try and keep it subtle.

Of course denim has an common place in other areas of clothing and slouchy tote bags look great in this hard wearing material and really work the trend wonderfully. Denim pumps are also great additions come the warmer seasons ahead and look great with a pair of snow white shorts, or trousers. They look especially good with most colours of chino and are set to be a popular pair for wearing this coming summer.

Denim provides a great way to look relaxed and also is extremely comfortable. Think, we all have a favourite pair of jeans we’ve lived in. Find your size and invest for the best pair possible . If purchasing jackets, or shirts be adventurous – denim goes with so many other materials you can afford to be.

Think, this time 2022 you could still be wearing the same pair, especially if the January diet’s still going strong.

The suit is seen as an International symbol of professionalism and men around the world are judged on how they wear these pieces of apparel. However, there are differences in the manner in which they are worn throughout the world.

London is the home of the suit and the home of the tailor and so men come to Saville Row from around the world looking for their workmanship. Customers come from America, Europe and Asia and elsewhere to try the tailoring on offer in the area.

In comparison the Americans, the British are seen as bolder and are more inclined to go for a formal suit, whereas the American’s have a certain understated, discrete style that they prefer to be comfortable in. Londoners will wear Oxfords, whereas the American is more likely to wear a nondescript tie and a bolder shirt. Brown is also seen as the most common shoe colour to be worn with suits in the USA, whereas in England it is more inclined to be black.

The USA also includes variations depending on the area at hand and brown suits, as well as greys and blues are common depending on the area, the former is very popular in California, supposedly.

Italy is also a brown wearing nation and in the likes of Milan, where there are numerous great tailors that turn out all materials for Italian men the brown shoes has been worn for decades. Dressing in the UK is seen as looking formal, in Italy it is about looking stylish.

The French like to mix elegance and being relaxed and turn things up with the likes of wool jumpers under English blazers and tan monkstrap shoes instead of Oxfords and a suit. Asia is more conservative than most of the rest of the world, including the UK and many want black Oxford shoes and pair it with dark tailoring, white shirts and dark neckties.

So, though the suit is the International sign of business, it is not necessarily the same. Of course, no matter how formal a suit should be comfortable. No matter, how much you spend on a suit, if it doesn’t look comfortable, it just won’t look good. So, take your time and choose a suit to fit, you love and feel makes you look good and are relaxed in.

Belts are of course one of the most functional accessories there are. Many of us have grown up with the belt and feel it is as much a part of our whole clothing arrangement, as our trousers. Belts of course are essentially functional pieces designed with the primary function of holding your trousers up.

However, there are a number of opinions floating around, where people are under the impression that a belt should never be worn. One of these areas and something of a surprise is in the tailored trouser area. People who purchase tailored slacks, or trousers understand that as they are made to fit your size they should be able to hang and don’t need a belt. Of course this sounds sensible and is a conclusion dictated by logic. Belts are required for a number of reasons other than function. A belt is a fantastic accessory and can be used to create a certain style.

Belts create a look of class and by matching your shoes and your belt you’re sure to impress in the style stakes. Wearing brown shoes, jeans and a belt looks classy and a good brown belt is something everyman should own. Of course, at work a black pair of shoes are really set off by a good belt and suit.

Belts can just be simply added to look good and add a little excitement to your clothing. Belts come in a range of shapes and sizes, not primarily for functional reasons, but because they look good. Fashion should be about having fun, building esteem and just looking good and the belt is there long enough to aid all three of these factors.

Great belts are an investment and it is not unusual to get nearly a lifetime out of one. Ignore what people say and the anti-belt brigade, because the belt is both a functional and fashionable accessory. Invest in a stylish neat one and wear it with joy. Make sure to look out for the size and choose the buckle carefully, thereby creating the ultimate piece for your clothing, ensuring you feel and look great.

The days are definitely getting longer and the weather brighter so pretty soon you can expect to see hordes of golfers enjoying their usual game of Sunday golf. Only you might spot a bit of a difference; today’s golfers appear younger and certainly much trendier than they did just 10 years ago. That’s all thanks to a certain Irish golfer named Rory McIlroy and many celebrity golfers like Robbie Williams, who have brought golf to a whole new audience.

Chris Wood, the current Lyle & Scott ambassador recently blogged that he had just completed a Lyle & Scott photo-shoot shoot for their brand new 2012 range: “There is some funky stuff on the Lyle and Scott catwalk this year and there were some funky shots taken. They are always good fun.”

We can reveal that Chris Wood is absolutely right! For the Lyle & Scott 2012 collection, the designers have looked back at the relationship that Lyle & Scott have had with golf and have taken some vintage inspiration to create bold, graphic designs and contrasting colours that are bound to be a hit this year. Vintage style has had a thoroughly modern makeover!

Lyle & Scott say that they didn’t want to merely create a sports collection but a modern, trendy collection that can be worn to any occasion. Their clothes are still practical and functional but are also fashionable and would look equally at home on the stage of Glastonbury as well as on the golf course.

Chinos have undergone a transformation and now appear in striking reds and royal blues and even the famous green eagle has had a spring dusting so that the green colouring is fresher, lighter and “more unisex”. After all, golfing is not restricted to men and with unisex fashion currently a hot topic on the catwalk, Lyle & Scott might well see a few items being sold to women golfers keen on their vintage and peppy style.

Make sure that you look out for the Lyle & Scott 2012 collection and add a touch of freshness to your spring wardrobe. Shop today for cheap Lyle & Scott menswear including Lyle & Scott polo shirts and golfing jumpers!

With spring fast approaching and the whether vastly improving, it is the perfect time to get a fresh look in time for the season change, and with some of the winter sales bargains still available, now’s definitely the time to pick up some cheaper items that can be incorporated into the new trend. First up should be some trainers or sneakers; Vans era 59 sneakers are always a safe bet for those who want to combine style with a retro feel. Now it’s time to look at what’s hot for 2012 and if the news hasn’t reached you yet, it’s time to dig out your oversized sweatshirts and baggy sweat pants, because for spring/summer 2012 there’s going to be a massive 90s grunge revival.
One of the key elements of the new grunge is the combination of comfortable sportswear with other streetwear like denim. As jeans are always in fashion, sales are a great time to buy more expensive brands that are usually out of your price range. Try to stick to classic cuts and this January look out for slightly baggy straight-legged jeans. These will complement printed T-Shirt and hoody combinations and allow you to exhibit your footwear to the max.

Colours are also key to the 90s revival, so look out for basic block colour or printed T-Shirts, bold shaded socks and zip-up hoodies in pop colours. Don’t be afraid to go a little louder than you would usually with some of your colour choices, but keep a check on colour clashing. To avoid looking too OTT, mute your look by opting for a few items in strong colours combined with some lighter or more subtle pieces in white or grey. Basic loungewear in grey, white and black is always a good choice to add to your sale shopping list, as comfort and classic colours never good out of fashion.

Though it may be a little beneath us, we all should have an idea of what how to choose our undergarments.

Though in the past men suited up with the same underwear as their forbears, times, they are a changing – as are fashions. This means that the proper underwear is a necessity and though the majority of men wear briefs according to an Ultimate Underwear survey, there are pros and cons with all types of underwear.

Briefs

The most common form of undergarment, briefs are the least stylish nowadays. In the 1960s of course this was different and leopard skin kinds were red hot.

Unfortunately, briefs are old fashioned and also a little tight, hence the name ‘tighty whiteys’. However these classics do have their place and are possibly the most comfortable for sitting for prolonged periods as they mould to the buttocks. They are also great for training, or gym going and keep everything in place, which is often a necessity.

Do choose designer underwear though as they are both trendy and comfortable; they also have a tendency to be hard wearing.

Loose Boxers

The least commonly preferred underwear, though most brands have a line. They do provide poor support however and not recommended for long periods of sitting as they wrinkle and feel bumpy. They are also commonly associated with wedgies – not such a positive.

Tight Boxers

Tight boxers came second in the Ultimate Underwear survey and are a great compromise of style and comfort.

Tight boxers are a great compromise between support and comfort, as well as style and manage to look the part for all occasions. They mould perfectly to the buttocks and also provide packages with support, as well as allowing circulation.

Different brands do have different sizes and so it is better to try a few types before committing to a certain brand. These boxers also tend to be slightly higher in price and so can be a little off putting. This is essentially all down to popularity and fashion, though as we’ve mentioned they do offer a great balance.

Choose your boxers carefully as you’ll always be in them. Try a number of brands and when you find what you feel suits you stylistically and comfort wise – stick with it.

Unfortunately, the British spring means having to invest in a coat. The unpredictable nature of the UK’s weather means you must thread the line between warmth and cold, sun and hail. So, what are the best options for those looking to find the perfect outerwear?

Leather

Leather is stylish and also gives an impression of quality, meaning you really can’t go wrong. It’s also very versatile and goes with anything from a sweater to just a shirt, meaning it’s ideal for the changeable circumstances of the spring.

The fact there are so many styles to choose from, as well as suede and lambskin means you’ll certainly come across something you like. It also lasts for years, meaning it’s an investment.

Overcoat

Tailored coats, or trench coats are great for work and also for play. The keep you warm, but still manage to ensure you’re cool as they are often mad from breathable fabrics. Trench coats and rain jackets also look good with jeans and protect you from the rain. There’s also a strange mysterious appeal when worn with some sharp tailoring.

Raincoats

A casual rain jacket is something every member of the British public should have. These keep you dry, when left high and dry with the weather and also go well with sweaters and jeans. Look for a waterproof casual jacket, with a mesh lining and some slick styling.

Paying good money for a good rain jacket is something you are sure to appreciate in time. The fact the weather in the UK can be as bad in November as it is in July, means you are sure to be grateful of it one day.

Jeans Jackets

Shear lined jean jackets can provide great heat in the spring and also look great. They can also work well in the summer time and go with a range of clothing, ensuring added versatility, you never considered before. Jeans jackets are a simple and casual solution to a number of problems during the spring season.

There are a number of choices of good jackets for those looking for some outerwear to keep them dry, while also allow them to keep cool. Invest in quality and you’ll have a suitable piece of apparel for years to come.

The onesie has become a very popular piece of clothing in late 2011 and 2012. The one piece of ‘leisure wear’ is demonised and praised in similarly equal measures.

For something that looks like a gigantic baby suit, it sure has took off, however does this sexless piece of apparel stand a chance in the long term, or will we be laughed at by our children in years to come?

The onesie is generally worn in the post December malaise – a twilight like time when we all just want to cover ourselves in warm clothing and try and hide the extra pounds. Of course the onesie is perfect for this and definitely offers those extra bits that sanctuary they may require.

The onesie of course is not just a place of sanctuary, it’s also a very comfortable and reasonably practical piece. The comfort part is expounded by the fleece like materials such clothing is generally made of. However, anyone who has had to use a loo in a onesie will tell you where it falls down in practical terms.

This is not the only problem with this one piece suit, it also has the ability to turn the most masculine, or feminine into a small child – blowing out any notion of sex appeal in its wake. The onesie offers the baggy dimensions and the childhood associations that would mean only the most strange could find anyone wearing one remotely attractive.

Of course this is balanced up with the fact we all eat syrupy baby like foods, such as stews and the like for January – ensuring it is not just the onesie that has us shrinking back to babydom.

Crime against fashion then? -Perhaps. The onesie is suited to the time when we see it the most – January. No one cares for sex appeal in January. The post Christmas month is just a waiting room for the fun and frolics of spring. Being cosy in those near to sub zero temperatures and losing those pounds is perfectly suitable. However, enter the Valentine laden month of February and the onesie has to be shown the potty, not to be seen until New Years Day 2013.
